What is the Carraige House?
We refer to the small blue house in the back as the” Carriage House”. Before the time of the automobile this house was used to store the horse carriage, hence, the name the “Carriage House”. It was converted into living quarters sometime in the 1950’s or 1960’s and was completely restored in 2009. The “Carriage House” is connected to the main house via a large covered porch. The house features two rooms (one upstairs and one downstairs) and a utility / wash room. The upstairs and downstairs are completely separate quarters with no stairs linking the two.
The upstairs room features an “efficiency style” living space with a double bed, a sleeper sofa, and a full bath. The bedroom sleeps four adults (but is most comfortable with two adults and two children). The room features hardwood bamboo flooring, a TV w/cable, wireless internet access, and a coffee pot. The full bath features the original “Ball and Claw” bathtub from the main house (circa 1905) and slate flooring. The downstairs room features Tile flooring, a double bed, and a sitting area with Cable TV and internet access. This room has no bathroom. The downstairs also house’s the utility room for the washer and dryer. This is a separate room but access to the bedroom is through the utility room. This is a very unique sleeping quarters which has become a favorite of our kids.
